Course Description
This non-accredited asbestos awareness course is designed for workers, supervisors and others who may encounter asbestos or asbestos-containing materials during their work, or who oversee activities in areas where asbestos may be present. This includes construction, demolition, renovation, repair, maintenance, cleaning, inspection, installation and emergency response work.
Participants will learn what asbestos is, where it may be found, the ways direct and secondary exposure can occur, and what to do if asbestos is suspected, identified or accidentally disturbed. The course helps participants recognise potential asbestos risks, follow workplace procedures, report concerns and make safe decisions that prevent asbestos fibres from being released or inhaled.
The course also helps workplaces provide workers with appropriate information, instruction and training about asbestos risks and safe work procedures.
Please note: This awareness course does not authorise participants to identify asbestos through sampling, remove or dispose of asbestos-containing materials, or undertake asbestos-related or licensed asbestos removal work.
This course is expected to take approximately 1 hour to complete. This timeframe is an estimate only. Individuals with prior experience in similar training may complete the online component in less time, while those new to the subject may need more time to complete all the learning content and theory questions.
